An Empirical Assessment of Technology Adoption as a Choice between Alternatives
نویسندگان
چکیده
Technology adoption by individuals has traditionally been regarded by information systems researchers as a choice between adoption and non-adoption of a single technology. With the current diversity of technology alternatives, the adoption decision may be more accurately specified as a choice between competing alternative technologies. The research question may no longer be simply whether technology is adopted, but rather which technology is adopted. The authors illustrate this with a simplified model of choice between two competing technologies, where the second technology is an enhanced version of the first. Their theoretical model is based on Expectancy Theory (ET). Results indicate that system characteristics can be successfully captured in the Valence Model of ET, and effort expectancy in the Force Model. Future research can expand on these results by including more factors in the Valence Model, and by comparing more than two alternative technologies. 923 Copyright © 2010, IGI Global. Application of AHP and ELECTRE models for assessment of dedesertification alternatives
The assessment of de-desertification alternatives can be effective in controlling the reclamation of disturbed landand avoiding destruction of areas at risk. Until now, there has been no method to consider different criteria andalternatives, or to present the optimum alternatives based on systematic structures and experts’ perspectives.Desertification is a complex process resulting from various...
متن کاملEmpirical Study of Nova Scotia Nurses’ Adoption of Healthcare Information Systems: Implications for Management and Policy-Making
Background This paper used the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which was extended, to investigate nurses’ adoption of healthcare information systems (HIS) in Nova Scotia, Canada. Methods Data was collected from 197 nurses in a survey and data analysis was carried out using the partial least squares (PLS) technique. Results In contrast to findings in prior studies that used TPB to investig...
متن کاملDesign, Implementation and Evaluation of Azmer Online Quiz Application Based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM): A pilot study
Introduction: Acceptance and intention to use the mobile device in the student evaluation is an interesting topic in education. Although there are significant studies of mobile learning acceptance and mobile-based assessment (MBA), there is little research on app design and driving factors that influence students' intention to use mobile technology for assessment purposes. The purpose of this ...
متن کاملA New Balancing and Ranking Method based on Hesitant Fuzzy Sets for Solving Decision-making Problems under Uncertainty
The purpose of this paper is to extend a new balancing and ranking method to handle uncertainty for a multiple attribute analysis under a hesitant fuzzy environment. The presented hesitant fuzzy balancing and ranking (HF-BR) method does not require attributes’ weights through the process of multiple attribute decision making (MADM) under hesitant conditions. For the rating of possible alternati...

Introduction: Monte Carlo method is often applied in radiation therapy as utilized in all the branches of science. An important requirement for successful radiotherapy is carefully examine the dose distribution specifications and decrease the difference between these features with experience to an acceptable level. In this study, the characteristics of 6, 15 and 20 MeV incident x-rays are prov...
